Traditionally, European Catholics did not eat meat or animal products during the 46 day period before Easter known as Lent. Not wanting good food to go to waste a celebration was held on the Tuesday before Lent. Mardi Gras, or "Fat Tuesday" is a time to indulge- to eat, drink and be merry! Tonight you can join us at Jimmy's No. 43 to partake in the tradition of eating and drinking- something you might have done anyway, but now you have a special reason to do so! As if that weren't enough, there will be Louisiana's own Abita Beer in the back room!Tonight is also a benefit night for Food Systems Network NYC, an organization dedicated to universal access to nourishing, affordable food. 10% of tonight's proceeds will help support FSNYC.
